This post is a long time coming and its been in my draft queue for months. Mainly because I’ve been lazy. The Agricultural stocks comprise food creation companies as well as the commodity growers and cultivators. Moreover, the sector includes crop protection, fertilizing, and even biotech engineering of seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, plus machinery companies who provide tools to the industry.

United States Ag Stocks

POT – Potash – Fertilizers

AGU – Agrium – A little bit of everything, Feritilizer, crop protection, seeds, phosphate, etc.

TRA – Terra Industries Inc. – Fertilizers

CF – CF Industries Inc. – Fertilizers

SMG – Scotts Miracle Grow – Mostly lawn and weed control products

BG – Bunge – A little bit of everything, they have different business divisions. Agribusiness stores, transports, and sells commodities like soybeans, corn, wheat etc. Has fertilizer division. Food services business makes and sells oils, corn meal, flour, as well as milling foods like soybeans, corn, and wheat. One of the most diversified in the Ag business.

MOS – Mosaic – 3 segments: Phosphates, Potash, and Offshore. Specializes in crop nutrient fertilizers, feed nutrients for livestock, and genetics for modification of crops/seeds.

IPI – Intrepid Potash

TNH – Terra Nitrogen

COIN – Converted Organics Inc. – They make organic fertilizer for residential uses and golf courses. Available at Home Depot and other outlets.

American Ag Machinery Stocks

DE – John Deere

TITN – Titan Machinery

RAVN – Raven Industries – manufactures various products for industrial, agricultural, construction, and military/aerospace markets in North America.

American Food Stocks

IPSU – Imperial Sugar – Marketing, growing, refining, of sugar products, syrups, and molasses.

MON – Produces corn, soybeans, canola, and cotton seeds, as well as vegetable and fruit seeds, including tomato, pepper, eggplant, melon, cucumber, pumpkin, squash, beans, broccoli, onions, and lettuce. As well as a herbicide and crop protection and weed control products.

DAR – Darling International Inc. – Recycles waste products from restaurants, butchers, meat processing plants, and turns that waste into reuseable oils.

Chinese Ag Stocks

CGA – China Green Agriculture Inc. – Fertilizers

YONG – Yongye International Inc. – Focuses on naturally occuring macro and micro nutrient fertilizing compounds.

NOEC – Fertilizer

CNOA – China Organic Agriculture – organic rice, as well as soybeans, kidney beans and mushrooms.

BBCZ – Bodisen Biotech

Chinese Food Stocks

GRO – Agria Corporation – A combination livestock and crop seedlings. However, mostly related to sheep

SEED – Origin Agritech Inc – Makes and sells hybrid crop seeds.

FEED – Agfeed Industries – Sells fodder and feed for hogs.

HOGS – Zhongpin Inc – Sells pork products, such as prepackaged meats as well as vegetables.

European Ag Stocks

SYT – Syngenta AG – Produces therbicides, fungicides, and other crop protection products.

South American Ag Stocks

SQM – Sociedad De Chile SC – Fertilizers, but also provides lithium carbonate for batteries and battery related items. As well as iodine used in several applications including the medical field.

South American Food Stocks

CZZ – Cosan S.A. Industria e Comercio – This Brazil sugarcane and ethanol producer is the big cheese in Brazil and Brazil runs on sugar.
