Piled Onto The Friday Afternoon Short Trade

Home / ETFs / Piled Onto The Friday Afternoon Short Trade
September 8, 2008

This morning I went into the indexes heavy adding to my Friday shorts with markets up considerably higher than where they are now (Dow +148, NDX -20, RUT +7.85, SPX +11).

Bought:
QID, SMN (tried to buy both EFU and FXP – seeing now the trades didn’t go through – damn FXP was good for 7% off the lows)

However, I just sold the QID for a 4.4% gain off the lows. Now the QID has cracked the lows and is cruising as I write. S’ok, I still have some QID, but considerably smaller amount, and my short in the NDX via the index funds, outweighs that position I sold in the ETF probably 25x. So break the lows!

The RUT has really sold off its highs from this morning and there are still gaps.
