Shortcovering In Homebuilders?

Home / Home Builder Stocks / Shortcovering In Homebuilders?
December 22, 2007

The following home builder stocks had the biggest volume for the most part in weeks. Some were days though.

SPF – Big volume today
DHI – Considerably higher volume on the up days before this week.

MTH – Big vol today

WCI – Huge vol today

LEN – The volume pattern looks like shorts unraveling a monster trade same with DHI. Most of the short covering has been in these two names during the late November – early December move higher.

KBH – Looks like the big vol happened late Nov.

The big builders had most of their largest volume days in the late Nov period. Thats builders like KBH, TOL, and LEN.

Everyone appears to have taken substantial profits, but the small guys like SPF, MTH, they waited till the very last 3 minutes to unload.

This isn’t the bottom in the home builders, but the trade is very long in the tooth without a major correction.
