I’ve been talking about retailers making a move in the last few days. TRLG is one of them. Plus its showing up on the same screen that was good for RTK, PWAV, SNTS, and LLNW.

I’m going to go and tag all those TRLG posts so they are easier to find. Back then (3 years ago) I didn’t tag posts.

Back in 2006 Andy So, a SeekingAlpha contributor and I chatted on his article. Unfortunately SeekingAlpha lost the names of who posted what, but thankfully I’m quoted in the comments so you can tell which comment was mine. I’ll recap here and post the source:

“My take is that competitors will die off because there is STRONG brand loyalty. Similar to the Ebay idea. Everyone created an auction site while Ebay was hot, ie True Religion premium denim jeans, but who was leftover?

Plus TRLG is on top of their fashion trends and the margins are so good and the cashflow is so great that we are far far away from this stock being a short candidate. Short if you want here, but it will be painful for awhile.”

Response by either Andy So or some other person, I can’t remember:
“StockRake,

The trend may be strong but the market is saturated. Paige is knockin on the door as well as Habitual and many others. If you pay closer attention to this market and the “trend”, you will also notice subtle decreases in price points for most premium denim lines. To end, saying “there is no fading trend in premium denim” is like saying that housing prices will always go up and the stock market will never go down. People will only pay for a unit’s utility and the 5 year denim cycle is getting long in the tooth. TRLG will trade sub 10 by Q4 of this year either by systemic or nonsystemic demise. Mark it.”

Then my post on StockRake on Jan 24th 2006 right near the top of TRLG for the year.

Now when I was talking about all this crap I was first referencing the bigger trend of premium denim, and then on Jan24th referencing a technical short term pullback. If there was a winner in that discussion above, I think it was me. The real winner is TRLG and its investors though.
