Went Short In Index Funds

Home / Technical Analysis / Went Short In Index Funds
December 10, 2008

I rolled from cash to short in the index funds at the close in a medium kind of way.

I covered my short at yesterday’s close and it was a good thing as the RUT closed up close to 5% and NDX 2%, as well as the SPX at 2%+.

I’m looking at this short for one day so far. Nothing more. If there is red tomorrow morning I’ll take it.

Daily charts are exhibiting that bullish spring in the 21d ema that I look for quite often. One thing that I’d like to see (since its a down trend/bear market) is that I would like to see a daily close below the 21d and then on Friday a daily open below the 21d and then a close above it.

If tomorrow closes in the red below the 21d, I’m cashing out, and then waiting on Friday’s action to buy long at the close.

Curious, what broker and trading platform do you use?

I use Ameritrade, originally opened the account to get the miles (a long time ago), but now I love quote tracker. Have used tradestation in the past though.

I've used qcharts, tradestation (programming was difficult), and another qcharts clone back in the day that I forget the name of. I love QT. You can trade inside QT directly as well.
