February 7, 2008

Being long and NOT getting scared out of the trade. Made back 3% in the RUT, 1.5% in the SPX, and 1.4% in the NDX.

AAPL Feb 120 calls – In @ 4.5, Out @ 5.65. Had as much as 50% at the highs of the day, but got a little scared and with the market “looking” like it wasn’t going to hold gains and seeing AAPL drop off that 124.7 high just made me preserve the profits. I wound up with a 25.5% gain and the trade of the day for me. Since AAPL still closed with the same oversold signals that got me into the trade to begin with, so I want to be a buyer tomorrow of the same calls. I have margin turned off on my accounts to prevent me from overtrading and couldn’t rebuy them at the close with unsettled capital tied up.

CREE – Up 4% held onto it overnight. I’ve been a fan of CREE for awhile, but finally was able to get a position on at what I think is an opportunistic time. CREE is hold for me until I see its intermediate trend change.

DRYS – I love the way this whole sector is acting. Held on up close to 4%.
EMKR – Actually had close to 5% up from my buy on the day, but EMKR fell off that $15 high. Down about 2%, but like CREE, I like EMKR for the long term or until its bigger trend changes.

BNI – I’ve been yapping about the transportation sector moving, so why not get on board with something in the sector? Otherwise we could be 6 months down the road and I’ll put up some complaining post about how I saw it and didn’t do anything about it.

BKUNA – I sold when my stuff said so, but then the next bar or two the thing goes back long. Whipsaw. BKUNA looks good again. Possible intermediate trender. Lost 3.3% on the trade.

CPSL – There has been some decent vol spikes in this stock. I’m hoping something is brewing because I hung on. Down about 4%.

AKAM – In @  32.21, out @ 32.7 good for a 1.5% gain.

Some oversold plays:

MSFT bigtime!

AAPL mentioned again

VLO – Technicals improving while price declining. Some would call that a positive divergence, I agree. :)

Some other notes:

BG – Got shot today. Don’t buy it on dips anymore like I said a few days ago.

AEO – Was good call – Up 6.7% today alone.
